Dear Delegates, Chairs, and Faculty Advisors,

We are honored to welcome you to the fourth annual session of the Concordia International School Hanoi Model United Nations. To the delegations joining us for the first time, the success of our interschool conference the last three years gives us every hope that your fresh perspectives will add even more color to CISHMUN IV.

From the moment you walk through the doors, we hope you will remember that you are at this conference at the perfect time. While we can hardly celebrate the world’s diminishing inclination toward multilateralism, we see that geopolitical backdrop as an opportunity for our delegates to show, even in a simulated forum, that countries can and do work together.

We hope you leave with a finer command of parliamentary procedure, resolution drafting, and speech writing, as well as a greater understanding of the issues you debate. Above all, we hope you emerge not just with the ability to compromise, but the propensity for it. Seek out people whose viewpoints differ from your own, in committee sessions and in the lunchroom, and see those differences not as reasons to switch blocs or lunch tables but as fodder for building common ground. At a time when global powers increasingly struggle to see eye-to-eye, we hope you will succeed where they have not. We look forward to seeing what each of you brings to CISHMUN IV. We look forward even more to seeing what each of you leaves with.
